Internet2
After exploring the Internet2 website, I have no idea what it is exactly or what it does. Apparently it is a non-profit organization that is "dedicated to the development of advanced internet technology." Of which, Rutgers is a participating member and pays a membership fee of approximately $33,600/year. Other than that, its all Greek to me. Even though it is nearing the end of the semester and I have learned a lot in this class, I can not comprehend the information this site is trying to convey.
W3C Semantic Web
Even though I continually receive notices to update several applications that I use, I never thought about people working to improve the web. I guess because I have a computer and access to the internet and it usually works pretty well, I just take it for granted. I think its great that people are working on ways to compile information and make it more accessible. And if it happens without me knowing it, or having to do something special to make it happen, well, that's even better.
I found the W3C Semantic Web much more informative than Internet2. The FAQs were especially helpful.
