While the newsreader was easy to set up, I don't feel like its something I need to have. It may save time by not having to go to individual websites, but I feel like I spent just as much time reading stuff on there, than I do at any other time. Although I love to read, I am not a newspaper person. I only read the Sports section. In the last couple of years, I have gotten a little better. I'll flip through and scan the headlines, and if something catches my eye, I'll read it. Its usually something science or animal related. RSS feeds are an interesting concept and I'm sure they are helpful to other people but, I don't feel that I need to have tons of stuff beamed directly to me. Its just one more thing for me to check when I go online.
I think one of the things I like about RSS is that you can tailor it to your needs/interests and eliminate stuff you're not interested in. But if you don't look for your info online, I can see that RSS wouldn't necessarily be a time saver for you.
ReplyDeleteLisa, I wouldn't say that using bloglines and rss feeds is a time saver in the sense that it saves me time reading - it just saves me time in accessing/tracking/finding the info I'm interested in. If anything, it makes me spend MORE time reading b/c there are more things to read that come to more easily than if I had to track them down! ;-) But I totally undestand what you're saying.
ReplyDeleteThere are many uses for RSS and now that you know about it you will have it in your "toolbag" in case it can serve a use for you at any time. :-)
I didn't get a chance to add lots of links to my bloglines, however, I do tend to agree with you Lisa. I'm sort of "old school" in that I find reading the actual newspaper much more satisfying than searching for news online. However, I am finding it helpful in terms of the sites I use to search various lesson plans for work.
